There were some key takeaways from our experience with ABC. First off, the technicians were all pleasant to work with. Some consistency with the technicians would be ideal, but we understand different shifts and geography may not allow it. One frustration is that there is no open communication on when the next appointment is scheduled until they call a few hours before their window of time. Having more notice would be helpful. The trap on the roof was for a raccoon, and the trap was set up about 10 feet from the hole in the soffit, based on where the first technician said would be the best location due to the raccoon's pattern of tracking in/out of the house. The trap sat there for 4 weeks, with at least one re-bait. I had asked if we should consider moving the trap but the technician who re-baited said we need to give it more time. $75 charge to put more bait in the cage. It wasn't until I asked if we could barricade the hole so that we would be assured of capturing the momma raccoon, and within 10 hours we caught the momma. Why we waited 4 weeks to barricade I'm not sure. Had I not suggested it - and apparently had to get "management approval" - we may still not have captured the momma. All the while the family of raccoons were scratching, clawing, peeing and pooping in our attic for over a month. After the momma was captured I asked if we could now go up and capture the babies, but was told we couldn't and instead there were 2 traps put up in the attic. Nothing hit the traps in the attic for nearly a week, and then we finally caught a baby in the outside barricade trap. When I talked with the technician, he said we definitely COULD do a capture of the babies rather than the trap, so now another week went by when we could have possibly hand captured the babies. Plus avoid potential death going a week with no food. Lastly, when the technician came out to remove the traps and do one last search in the attic, he didn't find anything. However, he did say he located one raccoon dropping. I asked if he removed it or if I need to go and get it, and he recommended I go up and remove it. Not knowing exactly where it was, I couldn't find it. I would think that he could have simply placed the droppings in a baggie and removed them himself. All of the above demonstrate a troubling pattern of lack of communication and no real sense of urgency when there could be serious damage going on inside the attic. Thankfully there doesn't appear to be much damage despite the raccoons living in our attic for probably 5-6 weeks or more.
We would ask for a partial refund, perhaps of one of the $75 re-bait charges. Had the technician set up the barricade right away, we may have caught it within days instead of over a month later, and would not have had to re-bait the trap during the month.
