Both service techs were good workers and well-intentioned. However, they lacked some necessary tools and training. One of the tech's vehicles contained only a hoe for digging/trenching requiring him to borrow a shovel, a pointed hoe, a pick & mattock for adressing roots, and broom and dust pan for cleaning concrete cuttings/dust. Lacked an understanding of how to dig a trench that requiired near immediate backfilling which resulted in excavated soils being placed haphazardly in grassed lawn at up to 3 feet from the 6"x6" trench which in turn resulted in much of the soil not being placed back in trench without significant homeowner follow-up effort to clean up the mess. Techs had no idea what the flow rate was (in gals per minute) of their product (termidor mix) delivery system was. This resulted in very crude estimates of product distribution over the entire trench rather than the required 4 gals/10 feet. Delivery systems in each vehicle should be tested/measured and approx. flow rates shold be noted on equipment in a meaningful fashion fir the way the equipment is used in various applications. Techs were not equipped with graduated containers for measuring product volumes and therefore were using a small-mouthed, empty, disposable water bottle to measure out product for mixing in the main mix tank. Onsite mixing of a new batch of product in the main tank was unacceptable. This was due to the need to fill the tank first and then add the active ingredient due to excessive foaming if product was added first. Anti-foaming agent should be supplied so product can be added prior to tank filling to assure proper mixing or a rigorous method of mixing within the tank needs to be developed and added to system if current onsite filling procedure is to continue. Quantities of product to be applied, application rates, and product mixing rates for each unique job should be calculated by/at the home office and all job-specific parameters should be explained in detail to the techs prior to their arrival at the job site. Suggest a daily paper print-out for the jobs scheduled for each tech crew rather than relying on the techs to figure it all out in the field. The sales rep also stated that they would make a job site visit during or immediately after the work to assure quality, but this visit never took place. This review identifies shortcomings that should be addressed at the management and administrative level to make the operation more effective, efficient, satisfying to the client, and provide it a more professional appearance.
