I recently realized that I couldn't remember having heard my Terminix-installed dehumidifier run for quite some time. When a Terminix technician came last week to do a termite inspection, I asked him to check the dehumidifier and he did. He reported that the GFCI receptacle installed by Terminix's electrician had tripped, that he had reset it, and that he regularly encountered tripped Terminix-installed GFCI receptacles. In the years since I personally installed multiple GFCI receptacles inside and outside my home, none of them have tripped without a ground fault having occurred. As my dehumidifier is the only device connected to the Terminix-installed GFCI receptacle, it is apparent that the dehumidifier, the dehumidifier's installation, the GFCI receptacle, and/or the GFCI receptacle's installation must be faulty. Given that Terminix's electrician installed 2 3-way switches under my house when the GFCI receptacle and dehumidifier were installed, that 1 of the switches was faulty, that testing sufficient for detection of the faulty switch was not performed, and that I had to identify the problem and request a return visit by the electrician to resolve it, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the GFCI receptacle, its installation, or both are faulty.

I was satisfied with the work of the technician who visited last week. However, as has been the case since their installation, I regret having had a moisture barrier and the dehumidifier installed by Terminix. (I also had to call Terminix to request a return visit by the installer to correct his installation of the dehumidifier's drain line with a significant uphill incline.)
