I'm a real estate appraiser. But my house had a bad termite problem: wings all over the livingroom floor, mud tunnels along studs in the garage, and lots of that termite "sand" all over the window sills & on the floors (in house & garage). Sure, I can estimate Fair Market value of a property, but when it came time for something major in my own house like termites, I was uneducated. I had no idea who to call; No idea what it would cost. I got a bid for tenting (wood termites) & soil treatment (subterranean termites) from Company A. The estimate was a LOT less than I thought it would be, but I had nothing to compare it to. Was it a good deal? Then a friend highly recommended I call Harbor for an estimate. He told me, "They're a locally owned business. They've been around forever. Everyone on my block uses Harbor." Sounded like a good referral to me. Harbor came in at 20% less than Company A for the same treatment (termite tent & soil treatment) AND offered a better Warranty (included in the cost). I found out Harbor does all their own work "in-house" (no middle man/subcontractors = lower cost AND less risk to property owner). But it just wasn't the better price/warranty and no subcontractors that sold me. It was also the people at Harbor who I came into contact with: Everyone, from the people who answered the phone to the folks who came out to do the estimates (one person for the termite treatment; a different person for the repairs) were friendly, knowledgable & helpful. That also applies to all the folks who came out to do the actual work. In addition to the termite treatments I also had Harbor do some repairs. And the optional low annual termite maintenance cost (beginning after original Warranty expires) is cheap insurance against future termite infestation/damage. I highly recommend getting an estimate from Harbor. I think you'll be glad you did. I owe my friend who referred me to Harbor a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant...Maybe you'll be taking me to a fancy restaurant!
